Manga are books too. It takes a lot of skill to tell a story with dialogue and pictures alone. I especially love this one. It was definitely creative and hilarious.
The story is about a girl whose parents are out of the country for work. If her parents were in the picture, this story definitely wouldn't be possible. Like any teenage girl who has been unlucky in love, she feels undesirable and depressed. She meets a mysterious salesman and proclaims that she wants a boyfriend. He gives her a card with a web address on it. She goes online and orders the perfect man. The next day, the guy is delivered to her door...naked.
Of course, she doesn't read the fine print and fails to return the product on time. Now she's stuck with him and a million dollar price tag that she can't possibly afford to pay. The company helps her with a work around. She is now providing them with research material so they can improve later models based on her interactions with the 'boyfriend' she purchased.

Hunter X Hunter
This anime is still ongoing. You can find the first 50 to 62 episodes dubbed in english online if you know where to look. However, there are differences in the subtitled and dubbed episodes. Subtitled episodes can be found on Crunchyroll and Netflix.
If you're looking to be able to watch the series from start to the most recent episode, then I recommend Crunchyroll. Also, Crunchyroll has the largest font when reading the text. The advantages of Netflix viewing is that your PC will automatically play the next episode while maintaiing a consistent video player size.
With all the technical stuff being said, I will tell you why I love this anime. First of all, I give Hunter x Hunter 5 stars all around. Even though this anime doesn't strive for realism in the artwork and scenery, the artwork and voice acting are top notch. But more importantly, this anime has a great story and great characters.
At the center of the story is Gon, a young boy who has never met his father, Ging. Ging left Gon with his aunt Mito to go off and be a hunter. After making a deal with his aunt to catch a gigantic fish, Gon goes off to take the hunter exam. The exam itself is dangerous as many of those who take the test drop out or die. This is the hero's and the viewers first real look at what it really means to become a hunter. Throughout the course of the test Gon makes friends who will later be his companions and allies in his quest to find his father, hunt down killers and even take on a new breed of magical beast.
If you haven't ever tried anime before, I think this one is a great place to start. While the 12 year old Gon doesn't yet have a love interest, he is a character you can't help but love. He has a way with the people around him that makes them want to change the way they live. He inspires others to want to become hunters or to hunt him. This week, we have the episode I've been looking forward to the most: its where Gon and Ging finally meet face to face. I can't wait to see how this plays out.

Guild Master Cinnamon
Guild Master Cinnamon is the second book in the Other Side of the Wormhole series by Celia Mai. This book focuses more on the corrupt world Daphne Morrow has been transported to and it's villains. The planet Arret has a complex and very corrupt business system.
In the story, Daphne Morrow, our heroine is still hoping to do the bare minimum to survive. She's merely biding her time and waiting for the gateway to her own dimension to reopen so she can go home. However, she comes to realize that she is a pawn in a power struggle. This book is designed to set the stage for her transformation from passive bystander to active participant in her new life. It will lead into book three: The Expelled.
Book 3 of the Wormhole series will pick up where Guild Master Cinnamon left off. Book 3 will feature a more prevalent use of magic, playing up the skills Daphne learned in book 2. And for those of you who like a romantic element, there's a certain someone from book two that she's formed a connection with. Of course, you'll have to read book two to find out who that is.
As the author and publisher of this book, I always feel that I could have done more or said more to make the story more enjoyable. But that is why I decided to write a series. I just have so much about Daphne and the world of Arret that I want to say and I do hope that others find the story intriguing.

Psychic Detective Yakumo
This anime ranks high as a favorite with a rating of 4 stars. As usual, the more true to life artwork rates high with me. I also prefer more serious stories without slap-stick comedy, and this anime also fits that criteria. But above all... I love, love, love detective stories!! Couple that with my other all time favorite--the paranormal, and you have Psychic Detective Yakumo.
It has been about a year or two since I came across this little gem. Yakumo, the main character of the series can see ghosts and spirits through his left eye. He was born with a red left eye and because of the weird look, it has caused him many personal hardships. Therefore, he hides his eye behind a colored contact lens. It can be a little creepy, so if you're a scardy cat like me, I don't recommend watching it at night or alone.
If you're looking to get away from anime that feature kids and high school students, this one is a good option because Yakumo is a young college student. While the series has ended, I feel like there was room for more. Of course, I often feel this way when I come across a series I really like, but who doesn't? Before I forget, this one is subtitled only, but I urge you not to let the text frighten you away. It really is a good way to spend a few hours of your time.
